Welcome to the Carnival of Cities blog carnival, where we tour the world in a single post, via submissions from a variety of different blogs, all about any aspect of one, single city or fair-sized town.
It’s a “small but mighty” set of posts today, with more than usual about cities in Asia, which is great (we’re usually pretty Europe- and Americas-heavy.)
The Blog Carnival administration site now requires you to set up a free login account before submitting a post, which is rather a pain but should also help cut down on the not-insignificant number of spam submissions.
The previous edition was hosted on Sheila’s Guide, and it will return there on September 26.
If you would like to host a future Carnival edition on your blog, please contact the Carnival organizer: Sheila “at” sheilascarborough “dot” com.
Off we go!
Cities in Asia

Penang, Malaysia Flashpacker presents Malaysia: What to do in Penang? posted at flashpackatforty, saying, “Penang is the food capital of Malaysia, offering dishes from around the world. The city boasts some excellent architecture as recognised by UNESCO. This makes Penang the ultimate city vacation destination when you travel to Malaysia.”
Hong Kong, China umit bhargava presents Hong Kong- The Country of Nights and Lights posted at Ravens International, saying, “This interesting blogpost lists out all the information regarding the beautiful country Hong Kong, its people, the climate and the geography and much more.”
Cities in the Americas
Canton, Ohio, USA Kathy Gray presents Golf at Every Turn in Stark County, Ohio! posted at What’s Happening in Canton/Stark County, Ohio, saying, “Known as Ohio’s Golf Capital, Canton/Stark County, Ohio, offers 20 public golf courses for the beginner to the skilled golfer with a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Glenmoor Country Club.”
Madison, Wisconsin, USA Byteful Travel presents Why to visit Madison’s Tenney Park in the Winter (A Photo Essay) posted at Byteful Travel, saying, “Madison, WI — Crisp. Blue. Clear. It had been three months since I’d returned from my West Coast Adventure. Three months of Not Moving, embracing the strangeness of being stationary. And then, I found myself ready to explore once more. I had regained a kind of balance about being in Wisconsin; and so I set out. None of what I saw was photo-worthy… except Tenney Park.”
Cities in Europe
London, United Kingdom Zhu presents London 2012 and the Olympic Venues posted at Correr Es Mi Destino, saying, “We didn’t come to London for the Olympics, but like most people, we tuned in to the world event—may as well, right?”
Seville, Spain Katie Sorene presents 6 Things to Do in Seville (Besides Bullfights) posted at Everything Cruises, saying, “If you’re anti-bullfighting don’t let this put you off Seville. There’s a lot more to this city than this traditional sport. Flamenco, boating and soccer are just a few of the alternative things to do in one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.”
That concludes this edition, and thanks very much for visiting and supporting the Carnival.
