Welcome to the Carnival of Cities blog carnival, where we tour the world in a single post, via submissions from a variety of different blogs, all about any aspect of one, single city or fair-sized town.
The Blog Carnival administration site now requires you to set up a free login account before submitting a post. This is rather a pain, but I hope it helps cut down on the not-insignificant number of spam submissions which are only looking for link-building rather than also sharing good content and community-building.
The previous Carnival edition was hosted on Sheila’s Guide, and it will return there on November 28.
If you would like to host a future Carnival edition on your blog, please contact me as the Carnival organizer: Sheila “at” TourismCurrents “dot” com.
Here’s more info and background about the Carnival of Cities blog carnival, and now….
Off we go!
Cities in Asia
Tokyo, Japan Mary Jo Manzanares helps you understand and appreciate an often-overwhelming city in Sightseeing in Tokyo: Taking a City Tour posted at The Traveler’s Way, saying, “Tokyo is a big, often overwhelming city, but when you break it down, it’s just a bunch of neighborhoods with plenty of sights to see.”
Beijing, China I almost deleted this post from Cerise, assuming that it was all spam, but How to Find a Beijing Apartment posted at The Beijing Apartment Blog is really an interesting read! Cerise says, ”When you’re new in town in Beijing, finding a decent apartment and cutting your way through the brambles of the crowded, confusing apartment market here can be a task unto itself. Learn the insights few foreigners ever do and turn yourself into an apartment-hunting pro in about 10 minutes, and be able to get a great apartment in Beijing with a lot less hassle than most.”
Cities in the Americas
Montréal, Québec, Canada DC Montreal focuses on positive news in Montreal designates Raoul Wallenberg honorary citizen posted at DCMontreal.
Chicago, Illinois, USA Byteful Travel shows us just a little bit of a big museum in 3 Highlights of the Henry Crown Space Center at the Museum of Science & Industry posted at Byteful Travel, saying, “CHICAGO, IL — When I first laid eyes on it, the Museum of Science & Industry reminded me more of a governmental building than a museum. Yet far more interesting than any court building, this was a renowned museum containing many treasures. There was A LOT to see in this museum. And today we’re going to explore the three highlights you absolutely cannot miss within the Space Center wing, one of my favorite spots in the entire museum. So let’s begin!”
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Zhu gets us in the mood for autumn (well, in the northern hemisphere at least) with A Fall Day along the Ottawa River posted at Correr Es Mi Destino, saying, “Fall is still lovely here and I’m enjoying the cold, crisp air after all the humidity this summer. But the true perk of the season is the stunning fall foliage.”
San Diego, California, USA anna.deguzman@nerdwallet.com highlights the best places for Eating Your Way Through San Diego: A Local’s Guide posted at NerdWallet | Travel, saying, “Not only is San Diego, CA beautiful, it’s home to some delicious eats, as well. Here are our favorite SD food & drink destinations. Happy eating!”
Cities in Europe
London, England Karen Bryan goes up – WAY up – in a new skyscraper; learn more in The View from the Shard over London posted at Europe A La Carte Blog, saying, “My photos from London’s newest tourist attraction, View from the Shard, due to open to the public in February 2013.”
That concludes this edition, and thanks very much for visiting and supporting the Carnival.

Thanks for not deleting my post, Sheila, and for having me on the carnival! I’m really glad you liked it… it can be a little difficult to make as dry a topic as apartment hunting is sound interesting (but you’ve got to do your best!).
