It’s really just a very rich chocolate sheet cake made with all the usual ingredients plus nuts and Coca-Cola, but let me tell you, I could not finish it. There was sort of a German Chocolate Cake taste to it, and it was “slap your Mama” moist and mouth-melty.
The Main Street Cafe building used to house city public safety offices and two jail cells (now fixed up as tiny private dining rooms) and the whole menu is full of unique dishes like this, so save room for dessert.
Disclosure: The Huntsville-Madison County CVB hosted my lunch while I was in town to run a communications workshop for them. We also tried the cafe’s Hummingbird Cake and Strawberry Crushed Pretzels, and were so stuffed we couldn’t finish any of it.
