Perfect example of American obsession with work

Can't we be sick in peace? Halls lozenge wrappers (photo by Sheila Scarborough)

Only in the United States would we be exhorting people to power through illness as they unwrap a cough drop to help with bronchitis.

I thought of this when I put on my reading glasses to decipher the tiny blue print on a Halls throat lozenge.

When I realized that it was a bunch of different rah-rah-power-through messages (apparently taglined “A Pep Talk in Every Drop” – you can’t make this stuff up) I immediately thought….

You would NEVER see an item like this for sale in Europe, Asia or Latin America.

They have too much sense.
