Emily of New Moon books are my favorites, too, with the exception of The Blue Castle, which is a beauty unto itself. Amazing how prolific she was.

I think that might be Krakow rather than Karkow.

Anne of Green Gables is wonderful but my favourites of the L.M. Montgomery canon are the Emily of New Moon books and The Story Girl.

Wow! Thank you so much! South Africa is on our list for our world tour & I love books like that!! We are in luck too as we have just moved into a rental in Spain for the winter, so we will actually have a real address for a bit!
