I was surprised at how pleasant Sea-Tac’s terminal A is. There’s decent food, plenty of good places to sit, to nap, even, if you can nap in airport noise, big soaring windows that look out on the runways, weird and diverting public art, decent chow at a decent price…

I was surprised when I saw the sea ... TAC food was delicious, and a place to sit directly facing the beautiful scenery

Good to hear from you, Pam! You just prove what I'm always trying to tell my husband -- if you're going to live in the US, Seattle's the place to be. People there have their heads screwed on straight. And I agree, Sea-Tac's pretty nice, although I haven't been in years.

JFK is slowly improving. The Delta terminal Smith's talking about is, however, just plain shocking. My Russian relatives fly in and out of it and they're always relieved to get back to St. Petersburg or Moscow.

You know what? I'm for getting rid of TVs in public *everywhere.* I loathe being blared at, but somehow visual is worse than just audio.

There’s really no way to sum up Patrick Smith’s recent column on his Ask the Pilot space at Salon.com. With its deceptively basic title “How to build the perfect airline terminal? Here are 15 steps in the right direction,” the article had me giggling into my tea the evening I read it. And that’s not just the effect of a week’s sleep deprivation with a puking baby.
Americans haven’t figured out how to build a proper terminal.

I recently spent an absurd amount of time in my hometown airport (AA, you suck!) and I was surprised at how pleasant Sea-Tac's terminal A is. There's decent food, plenty of good places to sit, to nap, even, if you can nap in airport noise, big soaring windows that look out on the runways, weird and diverting public art, decent chow at a decent price... it wasn't bad! Recent forays in to LAX and O'Hare offered none of Sea-Tac's considered space, though when I swooped through JFKs new terminal last fall, I was pretty impressed.

I'm for blowing up the CNN chatterboxes too. I. Hate. Them.
