Actually, Captain Cook was rewarded with a strait named after him - Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand. Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain, is also named after him.

Admittedly it's a small frontier town in northern Australia but who do you think Cooktown is named after? Also the Cooks River in Sydney.

There are plenty of things named after his ship the Endeavour as well, including NASA space ships.
