Would like to see that one! I think it would make a great novel, though, a sort of noveau-Chaucer, since it's filled with "I am a miserable sinner" sorts of lines from lonely, lost Nikitin. Great name for a hero, too, Nikitin. I'll have to check out the Paul Kane book. It's always amazing to look at places you've been or live through a time-reversal lens. Don't you get the itch to turn these sort of books into novels or movies? I just finished reading Wanderings of an Artist: Among the Indians of North America by Paul Kane, a Canadian artist who explored Canada and the northwest coast of USA in the mid-19th century.
