Bandelier is important archaeologically as one of the places where the Puebloans rebuilt their society after abandoning the 4 corners region. The small population of earlier eras suddenly blossomed at the end of the 13th century and migrants from both Mesa Verde and Chaco resided there.
The story is told more fully in my recent book, The Ancestral Puebloan Primer, available from Lulu.com, Amazon.com, and specialty book stores.
You can see more details on my website.
