Hi Jul, yes, that's an expensive place as I understand it.

Hi Steve, honestly, I don't know if she did or not because we all just wanted to move on, but your point is well taken. Too often we tip anyway despite bad service because we don't want to be confrontational, and under-tipping or leaving no tip is just passive aggressive. If you aren't happy, you should say something, at least to the manager on duty if you don't feel like dealing with waitstaff anymore. Thanks for your thoughts.

Sheila - heres a question. Did you/your friend still leave a tip at the Inn of the Anasazi after etting such bad service? I have gone out in the US with American friends and they still felt obliged to leave a tip of 15% even though the serice was crap!

Reminds me of eating out in a recommended restaurant in Kuala Lumpur with an American friend. The food was crap, service actually rude, wrong dishes brought etc. The guy brought the bill and slammed it on the table saying "service not included!" I had to veto my friend adding a tip! The waiter took the tray of exact money, walked away, counted it then came back slapped it on the table and said again "service not included!" I smiled sweetly and replied "That's OK we never received any!" He was still standing by the table with his mouth open as we reached the door!

Bad service = no tip, and tell the buggers why!
